What Is NATA?
The NATA or the National Aptitude Test In Architecture is a national-level entrance examination for admission to undergraduate courses in the field of Architecture. The Nationwide test is conducted by the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture, which is a body of the Council of Architecture in Delhi, India.
The entrance test is conducted in two sessions and candidates can either choose to appear for one or both sessions. The best score will decide admission to the top architecture colleges in India. Candidates must pass the 10+2 exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with a minimum of 50℅ aggregate scores from a recognized Board to sit for the NATA Aptitude Test.
Assessment In NATA
The NATA measures the aptitude and skills of candidates for a specific field of study – Architecture, by assessing different skill sets of candidates. The national-level entrance test for Architecture, NATA assesses the cognitive skills, visual perception, problem-solving, and critical thinking ability of the students among others.
Additionally, aesthetic sensitivity, logical reasoning, inductive reasoning, diagrammatic reasoning, etc. are also analyzed through the NATA aptitude test. The situational judgment abilities of the candidates are also measured through this test.
Eligibility To Apply For NATA Test
To be eligible to sit in the NATA aptitude test, a candidate is required to fulfill all the below-mentioned eligibility criteria set by the COA- Council of Architecture. Candidates should make sure that they have met all the eligibility criteria and norms before applying for the national-level entrance test in Architecture. We have mentioned below the eligibility criteria for a candidate to apply for the NATA aptitude exam.
- The candidates seating for the NATA aptitude test should have scored a minimum of 50℅ in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combined in the 10+2 level. Candidates who have passed 10+3 diploma courses should also score a minimum of 50℅ marks to be held eligible for the NATA exam.
- It is important for a candidate to have Mathematics as a core subject in 10+2 to be held eligible for the NATA test.
- Candidates appearing in qualifying examinations are also eligible to sit for the NATA test. But, the candidate must score at least 50℅ marks in the qualifying exam.
- The marks cannot be rounded off while verifying the eligibility criteria for a candidate in the NATA test. For example:- if a candidate has scored 49.9℅, his/her marks will be counted as 49.9℅ only and not 50℅.
- There is no lower age limit set by the Council of Architecture for candidates to apply for the national-level test in Architecture.
- There is no other set of eligibility criteria for the reserved sections. The above-mentioned criteria hold true for all SC/ST/OBC or any other special category of candidates as well.
- The eligibility criteria also remain the same for NRI students. There is no different set of eligibility norms for international or NRI students.
What Is My Competition In The NATA Exam?
The question that gets the most asked from candidates is that “How tough is it to qualify for the NATA aptitude test? What is the competition in the NATA exam? Well, there is no defined answer to this question. The one-size-fits-all solution does not apply here. The concept of competition is subjective here. So, how do you start preparing for the NATA aptitude test?
The NATA aptitude test question paper is divided into two sections. There are 100 marks for drawing, with two questions each having 50 marks. While many think the drawing bit is the most difficult, let us tell you that this is where you can score the most in the whole paper. You need to show your creativity and skills in this section to score the most on the exam.
Next comes the online theory exam which tests your general aptitude skills such as problem-solving, logical reasoning, etc. One can easily score 50 marks with good preparation. If you want to score nearly 70 out of 100, you need to prepare harder for this theory section.
Thus, it is you who will decide your competition in the NATA exam. Prepare and practice well! All you need is passion for your subject to Achieve your dreams. To prepare well for your NATA exam, join our coaching classes at Ibrahim Academy, one of the best NATA coaching centres in Hyderabad and pass the test with flying colours.
